Remote, Hybrid, and In-Person

Monday, March 1, 2021
5 to 6 pm by Zoom

(Zoom login information shall be provided to registrants before the event)

Judge Laura Riquelme

Skagit County Superior Court, Presiding Judge

The pandemic has significantly changed the courtroom environment in that most hearings and trials are now taking place with witnesses, attorneys, and sometimes even judges appearing remotely. This CLE will give participants an overview of how Superior Court is handling various types of cases, to include: how to be audible over Zoom and other tips for appearing remotely; submission of exhibits and other requirements for remote bench trials; use of videos and monitors in the courtrooms to allow for a combination of in-person and remote appearances; and pandemic procedures for conducting jury trials in the newer courtroom, along with a virtual tour of that new space. Participants will also learn about emergency orders from the Supreme Court and Superior Court

This program has been approved by the WSBA for 1 (one) CLE credit.
