Please join us for an open house retirement reception for Commissioner Karen Lerner on Friday, June 29th from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM in Skagit Superior Court, Courtroom Two.  Commissioner Lerner has presided over the Involuntary Treatment Calendar and Mental Health Court since 2007.   Additionally, Commissioner Lerner served both Island and Whatcom County Superior Court as outlined below:

July 1998 - December 2009 - Island County Superior Court part-time commissioner.  Assigned to preside over  Dependency, Paternity, Domestic Violence and Truancy calendars.

January 2013 - December 2015 - Whatcom County Superior Court part-time pro tem and mental health court commissioner primarily hearing ITA cases. 

Commissioner Lerner is known for her compassion and commitment to serving vulnerable adults and assisting in their recovery through Mental Health Court and by creating pathways for success for individuals who are involuntarily committed.  Commissioner Lerner’s last day will be June 29th.   Following her retirement, Commissioner James Dolan will service as the Involuntary Treatment Court Commissioner.
