Choose Your Adventure - Protection Orders

Location:   Skagit Valley Co-op, Rm. 309, Main Bldg - 1st St @ W Division, Mount Vernon

Presenter:  Nancy Ivarinen, Bellingham, WA

Nancy Ivarinen will touch on the various types of Protection Orders to address: Domestic Violence; Anti-Harassment; Stalking; Sexual Assault; Adult Protection and Extreme Risk.  She will discuss the circumstances where POs are appropriate and the process for obtaining a PO.

Materials will be distributed electronically to registered attendees prior to CLE - please print and bring them  if you wish to have them for the CLE.

This CLE is free.  SCBA members will receive 1.0 WSBA Legal/Law credit.

Non-members are welcome to attend but will not receive credit. 

You are welcome to bring your lunch. Water and fruit provided.

Nancy Ivarinen has been a practicing attorney since 1988. She is in private practice in Bellingham, Washington and is program director of the Paralegal Studies program at Whatcom Community College, where she received the Faculty Excellence Award in 2017. Her practice emphasizes general civil litigation, including evictions, collections, real estate, wills, probate, domestic relations and elder abuse.  She serves on the Limited License Legal Technician Board as an appointee of the Washington Supreme Court.
Ms. Ivarinen was named the 2010 Professional Woman of the Year by the Whatcom Women in Business. She is the 2006 Recipient of the Courageous Award from the Washington State Bar Association, "presented to a lawyer who has displayed exceptional courage in the face of adversity, thus bringing credit to the legal profession."
She has served on the Washington State Bar Association's Disciplinary Board, the Practice of Law Board, and for many years was on the Skagit Community Action Board. Ms. Ivarinen is dedicated to numerous community action and legal aid activities.
